About meI'm an Italian singer, researcher and voice teacher based in Helsinki, Finland. I have over 15 years of experience in stage performing and teaching – mostly in the genres of rock and heavy metal. I'm the lead singer in Skiltron and Seraphiel.
Early life in Italy
I was born in the North of Italy, close to the Lake Garda. I got acquainted with music at an early age, but I became a musician myself only in my teens. After high school, I completed a Master's Degree in Philosophy and a Master of Music in classical violin. Well into my twenties, I decided to move to Finland and start my Doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki.
Studies, Degrees and Heavy Metal
Although my instrumental background was classical, I started singing in a metal cover band in my late teens, and soon began to take vocal lessons from a couple awesome teachers around town. When I moved to Finland, I thought my singing days were over, but I still chose heavy metal as the main focus for my doctoral research in Musicology at the University of Helsinki. There I also met my academic mentor, PhD Esa Lilja (whose ground-breaking text Theory And Analysis Of Classic Heavy Metal Harmony is nowadays considered a reference work in heavy metal academic studies).
Notwithstanding my studies at the University of Helsinki, I also completed two academic degrees (in Music Performance and Music Education respectively) in Pop and Jazz Music at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki. Nowadays, I teach pop and jazz singing and singing pedagogy at Metropolia as an outside contractor. I became passionate about rock and heavy metal music during my high school years, firstly because school friends from "the scene" introduced me to some of the coolest songs and albums around. Soon enough, I developed my own taste and interests within the different genres of rock, and in other music styles as well. |
Voice of FinlandIn 2015, I participated in Voice of Finland and joined Tarja Turunen's team.
I made it almost to the final, and it was a wonderful experience for me, which naturally brought visibility and expanded my musical network in Finland. It also gave me a lot of new friends, and I still keep in touch with some of them. |

Skiltron
In 2021, I joined folk metal combo Skiltron, originally from Argentina and nowadays an international Europe-based band with more than 15 years of history. We immediately started recording vocals for a new album, which is scheduled for release in 2023.

Seraphiel
In 2020, I became the lead vocalist of the Finnish power metal band Seraphiel. This is probably the band with the overall highest level of performing skills and musicianship I've ever served in, so I was understandably thrilled to be asked to join them.
Our debut full-length album is currently in the (hot) making, and hopefully will be released in 2023. LINEUP Guitar: Pekka Posio Guitar: Iisak Latvala Keys: Vili Itäpelto Bass: Jarmo Luopa Drums: Pertti Pätsi Vocals: Paolo Ribaldini |
Delain (as guest) |
Thanks to my friend Anton Kabanen from Beast In Black, I came in touch with Delain's mastermind Martijn Westerholt in the spring of 2021, right after the previous line-up of the band had split. Martijn was looking for a new singer who could bring a different angle to the band, and we immediately started to work on some material together with Guus Eikens, Martijn's musical right-hand man.
Months later, Martijn decided to stick with a female singer as frontperson for the band, and hired talented Italian-Rumanian Diana Leah as the new main voice of Delain. This didn't end our work together though, and the solution was eventually to blend my vocal skills with Diana's in some of the songs for the album we had been working on, Dark Waters. On 4th November 2022 I also hit the stage with the band for the first time in an official performance ad Hedon (Zwolle, Netherlands). For the time being, I continue working together with Delain as a guest singer on both studio recordings and live concerts. |
What else does tomorrow have in store?Although Seraphiel and Skiltron are the bands where I do most of my work as a singer, and Delain keeps me occupied with guest appearances, I also have another couple first-class musical endeavors coming up soon. Everything is still kept confidentially under the radar, but I'll be able to share more about both of them in the next few months!
So here's the right place to drop the abused cliché line: stay (auto)tuned. |
